Nia-Imani Fagan
My name is Nia-Imani. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and artistic expression has always been the spine to my being;

I love to read, but when I was a younger child, I loved writing stories of my own even more. Inspiration came from many places: my favorite books, oratorical stories from my family, or sometimes from the machinations of my only-child mind. Many times I would write stories for hours, until my hands got tired and achy. Later, began typing up stories, printing out copies of them, decorating the cover, and giving copies to my family. I loved watching them read, and more importantly, enjoy and discuss my short stories with me.

As an older child, I began to notice that my love for painting is a direct vein to my love for reading and writing. I, like many others, see painting and other visual art mediums as a form of storytelling, and feel that our lives are all comprised of many, many short stories.

More recently, I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in 2019, and have been moving into what I consider to be the second chapter in my life. Currently, my writing, painting, and exploration of other art mediums have pushed me into the deepest ocean of self-reflection yet. Each piece sheds light on an older and more vulnerable part of myself. A part that was freed from my often crippling self-doubt, even if it were for a small moment in time. I love being able to look back on my older works.

I am tremendously excited to collaborate within this circle of women. Painting is a very sacred form of therapy for me, and I’m humbled to have been given the opportunity to share within the loving circle that is Amani Sol, and with you.
